We had a wonderful weekend in the mountains last weekend. The weather was beautiful! It was a cool 56 degrees when we came out from eating lunch on Sunday. My parents took care of the girls on Thursday and Friday and let Jay and I spend a couple days by ourselves in the mountains before joining us with the girls. Our mission was to have fun together and to do things we had not done before. I am the type of person who loves doing the same thing over and over and is content eating at the same restaurant every time and ordering the same meal too! We stopped in Old Salem on the way there and walked around and ate lunch at a cute little Tavern. It was really pretty and very empty since it was a weekday. On Thursday night we headed to Blowing Rock to visit our sweet friend Christin! We LOVED her cute town home and had a yummy and quite amusing dinner at Bistro Rocco. Christin and I then drug Jay shopping at the outlets and do our dismay he bought an awesome sweater at J. Crew that he picked out all on his own!!! Christin, we loved spending time with you, especially at the $5 Christan bookstore! On Friday we took a long drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and did a new hike at Linville Falls....it was beautiful!!! We also hit a few antique stores throughout the weekend, which we love to do together! It was so much fun to just be with Jay, but we were both ready for the girls to get there around dinner time on Friday. We grilled out and enjoyed a night all together. The next few days consisted of walking in the river, going to the farmers market, attending an art show, a lot of ping pong, checkers and a beautiful drive to Glendale Springs to see the church of the Frescoes. It was the most quaint church with a beautiful fresco painting of the Last Supper. On our way back to the cabin we stopped and had a picnic lunch and got to pet two horses that were beside the road. I was SO shocked that the girls just walked right up and started petting them right on the face. They loved those horses. We always love going to the mountains and spending time as a family and hanging out with my parents. We get to go in month again and this time we are celebrating my dad's birthday!!! To end this post I had to write a list of all of the animals that we saw while were there....it was amazing!

Loved all the pictures of "familiar" places! We did some things this past week that we hadn't done before: climbed the Hebron Rock Colony @ Hound's Ear (you'll need to wait until the girls are a little older... it is TOUGH!), went to the corn maze just outside Jefferson (awesome w/lots to do for kids!), went to church (usually only S. & I go, but everyone went), & ate @ Pappy's in Linville on hwy. 105 (great food!)
