trip to todd

This past weekend we took a family trip to Todd, NC with my parents. It is the cutest little town very close to Boone. We went last October and had the best time. It was honestly my favorite trip of the year. Because it was so awesome I tried not to set my expectations too high for this year, but as my mom and I talked about it was even better this year! It was so neat to see how much more the girls could do and how they soaked in everything. Just being in the mountains and breathing in the air, seeing the incredible views is amazing in itself. As you can see from some of the pictures the main view from the cabin is a giant Christmas tree farm. Almost as far as you can see are Christmas trees lining the mountain...it is incredible! We packed a lot of fun things into three days! My favorite thing was rafting down the New River with Jay. The cabin has awesome rafts and my dad drove us down the road and we put the rafts in and floated back down the river. It was so calm and relaxing and we were the only people in sight. We got to have some quality time to talk without two cute little interruptions! The most fun part was when we could see the cabin we called for my mom and dad to bring the girls down to see us....they had never seen mommy and daddy in boats on a river! Then we decided to let the girls have some fun and they rode with us for a couple of minutes....don't worry the water was literally two feet deep if that! It didn't matter that it was a short ride, they could not believe they were in a boat! I will really never forget the look on their faces and their words of excitement! My other favorite memory is playing at a park in West Jefferson. This park had a really cool playground and then off by itself it had an old metal slide that went down the side of a hill that was about 25 -30 feet long. The girls...and all of us actually...did it over and over. The girls went really fast and even put their hands up like they were on a roller coaster! We also went to the Todd General Store on Friday night for their weekly bluegrass concert. The girls surprisingly were not that into it, so we went outside and danced and sang and had our own concert. We also hiked to a waterfall like we did last year, it was beautiful! The girls and I even walked in a small creek along the hike since we had waterproof shoes. All four of us love spending time with my parents and I really cherish these memories we are creating for the girls. Tonight and almost every night before Ava goes to bed she says, " I miss Susu, she's my best friend", even if she has just seen her hours before! Thanks dad for all of the laughs and mom for the yummy food! We had so much fun!
