On Friday since the girls were out of school my dad and I took them to Pinehurst for the day to visit the Festival of Trees. It is an event that is held each year at The Carolina Hotel. An entire room is filled with all sorts of Christmas trees decorated by local businesses and artists. You can bid on the trees and decorations and all of the proceeds benefit the Sandhills Children's Center. My parents took the girls last year and I heard so much about it, I was excited to go this year. Not only did they have trees, but they had beautiful gingerbread houses that people had made. We loved the castle one that they girls posed with. There was also a beautiful barn complete with John Deere Tractor beside it. The girls also loved the barbie themed tree, the Grinch one and of course the Justin Bieber tree! The girls also enjoyed reading a book with Mrs. Clause and we even waited in line to see Santa himself!!! After we were done seeing all of the trees we went over the golf course to walk around and have lunch. There were two people out playing croquet all decked out in their white clothes. I just love seeing that! To end our day we went to the Village and walked through several stores and went to a new cafe that had just opened. My dad treated the girls to ice cream and me to a yummy mocha coffee drink. He also bought the girls a new stuffed animal each. We did not need any more stuffed animals in our house, but they fell in love with these animals...Ava a pig and Claire a turtle and granddaddy was so sweet to buy them for them. The pig is properly named Piney Pig and the turtle is Franklin. My parents got my niece Ellie a bear several years ago in Pinehurst at the U.S. Open golf tournament. Ellie named it Piney Bear and it is still her favorite stuffed animal. My girls have given granddaddy a hard time for not buying them a Piney bear, so this was their turn to get a stuffed animal from Pinehurst too! It was such a fun day with granddaddy! I am sad that I did not get any pictures with granddaddy since so much of this post is about him. My camera was having some major issues by the end of the day.
