mountain getway

For labor day we took a wonderful trip to my parent's mountain cabin in Todd, NC. They were sweet enough to let just the four of us stay for the weekend. It was so nice to get away and relax after a very busy start back to school. We did a lot of our favorite activities, but stayed at the cabin and just rested a lot too. We actually finished two puzzles as a family! We went into West Jefferson one day, walked around and went to the park. We also went to our favorite park in Valle Crucis one day. We love going there because we get to go to the Mast General store and get ice cream too! As the girls were eating their ice cream I told them I could make a photo album with just pictures of them eating ice cream. I have so many and a lot of them are some of my favorite pictures ever! We enjoyed walking around the Mast General. In the back they have an old school house where they have a big sample sale. A couple months ago when we went it was full of shoes, this time it was full of coats, fleeces and hats. I was so excited when I saw this because the girls need a new winter coat this year. Sadly all the kids coats were size 10/12. They did get cute Columbia sweater hats to wear on cold days when we walk to school. Jay and I were out of luck too with things in our sizes. We ended our trip with a quick swim in the New River. I was surprised the water was still warm enough to swim, but the girls had a great time in the river. As always it was such a fun trip to the mountains. We hope to get back before one more time before it starts snowing up there!!! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Claire scored a barbie scooter for $1.oo at an antique store!! Ava took this picture of Claire with her beloved scooter!
