hillridge farm

We had a wonderful family day at Hillridge Farm last Saturday. Jay's company Farm Bureau hosted families from the entire district to a day of fun and a wonderful lunch. It was our first time going to Hillridge and we had a blast. It did rain the first hour we were there, but after that the sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful day!!! The girls had so much fun playing in the maze, jumping in the jump houses and digging in the corn hut filled with corn kernels. We also told them they could chose one activity to do that we had to pay for. There were several good choices, but they decided on gem mining. I had so many good memories from doing this as a child!!! The girls each got a back of "dirt" from the North Carolina mountains and went to work. They both got beautiful gems in so many brilliant colors to bring home. Ava's favorite gem was a Blue Topaz and Claire's favorite was a huge Citrine that we thought looked like a pineapple chunk! We also went on family train ride and a hayride out to a field of pumpkins. We had a blast picking out our pumpkins, but Jay and I had to carry them all the way back to the hayride and we picked out four of the biggest ones there!!! Ava is helping me blog today and she wants to me to tell you that one of them has a mushy stem. My top three favorite things were watching the goats walk across the bridges in their home, seeing the girls do duck races over and over, and my very favorite thing is the picture at the top of this post. I am loving Jay and the girls as animals at the farm and especially love Ava's expression!!! It was a wonderful day on the farm for sure!!!
