weekend getaway

We took a trip to the mountains with my parents this past weekend. We love going anywhere on vacation, but there is something special about the mountains. You can stand in one place and everywhere you look is simply beautiful! The weather was awesome, warm, but not hot like it has been here lately. We tried to fit in as much as we could on our weekend trip...while still getting a little bit of rest. The girls went swimming in the New River twice and even walked up a small waterfall with freezing cold water coming down from the mountain. Jay and I went to several antique stores, just the two of us, which we love to do! We went to the girl's favorite park with the long slide and got ice cream downtown West Jefferson. Jay and celebrated our 8th anniversary which is actually today! We had built in babysitters having mom and dad with us!! We went to Blowing Rock and walked around and ate at the most delicious restaurant....Bistro Roca. It made it even more special to celebrate and go on a date while we were out of town. We went to Todd General Store for a bluegrass concert and Jay took the girls on their favorite hike to the Cascades. It was a full weekend of fun! Of course there was a lot of ping pong as usual, but thanks to my dad we added ring toss, checkers and jacks this time. Ava must have asked someone to play jacks with her every five minutes the whole weekend. Thanks mom and dad for having us at the cabin....we had the best time!
