cornhuskin' time

On Friday afternoon I took the girls to Meredith College for the Cornhuskin' parade. Cornhuskin' is a huge tradition at Meredith that happens every year in October. It is basically a huge competition between classes and has many parts to it. It is really hard to understand if you did not go to MC and even hard for some that do go to really get it. It involves a skit, singing, apple bobbing, can art and the list goes on and on. To kick off the night of festivities there was a parade in the afternoon. Each class marches down the main entrance drive and shows off their theme....yes every class has a different theme. We went to the parade with my friend Christin who is a Sophomore this year at MC. Their theme was Angelica's Island...based on Gilligan's Island. They had nautical hats and anchor tattoos, it was really cute. Usually in Cornhuskin' the seniors win, but not this year. The sophomores won and Christin was really excited. Claire and Ava loved the parade. They waved to everyone and Ava blew Christin's whistle. After the parade. The sophomore serenaded the Seniors....their big sisters. The girls really loved watching this part and clapped and danced along to the songs. I definitely want to try to make the parade a tradition and take the girls each year. I guess deep down I want them to be Meredith girls like their mommy!
