mountain trip

Our first week out of school we headed for the mountains. It was so fun to get away and enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather! It was also special because the girl's cousin Ellie came with us for the week. When my parents left to take her back to Wilmington, Jay came up for Father's Day weekend. It was so fun to spoil him in the mountains!!! We did so many fun things, but our favorite thing was going to the Valle Crucis Community park for the first time. We love finding new parks and this park was awesome!!! For starters the views were amazing. I loved looking around while the girls were playing and seeing the mountains and trees and flowers and the stream running through the park! We went in the beginning of the week with my parents and Ellie and then returned over the weekend with Jay. The second time we went we were prepared with the girls bathing suits and a big tube and they had so much fun playing in the water and riding the "rapids" downstream! Another awesome thing about the park is it is right behind the Mast General Store Annex and an ice cream stand. We went there twice too! Once you order your ice cream you get to enjoy it while you sit on huge rocks right along the stream. It was perfect! The girls and Ellie loved going to the Cheese factory in West Jefferson and watching them make cheese. My favorite were the three huge cows outside...what a photo opportunity! We went to all of our favorite towns while we were in Todd...Boone, West Jefferson and Blowing Rock. Another highlight of our trip was taking my dad to the Life is Good store in Blowing Rock. I let him pick out a shirt for Father's Day. He chose a cute fishing one...perfect for his life of retirement! We had a wonderful trip to the mountains and the biggest surprise of the trip was giving Jay his Father's Day present. We bought him a ticket to the Nascar Experience in Charlotte. He will get to drive a real Nascar around the Charlotte Mother Speedway! He was so surprised and so excited! The girls and I are counting down the days until we get to watch him speed around the track!
