snakes and sharks

Last week I took the girls downtown to the Natural Science museum. The girls love going there and were especially excited to go this time because their artwork was featured in the museum store. A few months ago they entered a drawing contest about sharks. The featured exhibit at the museum over the past few months has been about the Megalodon shark. It is the biggest shark ever! My girls love princess things and girly things, but they LOVE sharks. I don't know what started this obsession, but they were so excited to see the exhibit and enter the contest. A few weeks ago we got a phone call telling us that both girls had been chosen as a runner up for their age group! To them it meant they won! Jay and I are so proud of them and it was really cute to see them with their winning artwork. There were a lot of neat things about the exhibit. They got to look for sharks teeth and pieces of coral and even saw a sharks tooth from Kazakhstan on display! We stopped by the snakes on the way out. They also love snakes! Claire even kissed the glass on one of the snakes display cases! Claire's artwork is two pictures above her head. It is the one with the small green mermaid tail going off the paper. She thought of this idea all by herself....a shark chasing a mermaid. She named it "The Mermaid Getaway". Ava's is right beside her shoulder with the blue shark and green seaweed with purple urchins on it. I am so proud of my little artists!
