We had a wonderful weekend in the mountains. It was our first time going with just the four of us...we missed mom and dad, but we had a great family time. We did two awesome hikes...one in 43 degree weather, shopped and ate dinner in West Jefferson, explored Boone, ate the yummiest cinnamon bun ever at Stick Boy bakery, and enjoyed time at the cabin. One of the hikes we did was at the Moses Cone House on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a beautiful house surrounded by the mountains and gorgeous trees. The coolest part of the trail was when we talked through a tunnel that went under the parkway...the girls loved hearing their echos. We also saw many horses on the trail and the girls got their picture taken with a few of them. We also did the hike at the Cascades off the parkway. The waterfall was gushing more that we had ever seen it because of all the rain. You could hear running water almost the entire time we were hiking....that is an awesome sound! One other fun memory was drinking hot chocolate and warm milk that daddy made us...complete with marshmallows!
