durham bulls game

We took the girls to their first ever Durham bulls baseball game today. We did not have high expectations about going due to the weather and the girls sitting and watching a game for three hours, but it turned out to be such a great day. The girls LOVED watching the game and did not want to leave until it was over. We asked them several times during the game if they were ready, but they always said no! We finally left at the top of the 9th inning! Their highlights were seeing Wool E. Bull (the team mascot) and seeing the bull's eyes light up and smoke come from his nose when someone hit a home run! We had talked about both of those things all week so they were ready to experience them! They had to know where Wool E. was at all times, and kept asking for him. They got to talk with him two times and even get their picture with him. We enjoyed typical ball park food including hot dogs, nachos and even cotton candy. Another first of the day was that the girls had their first sip of soft drink ever!!! (Ashley, you will think this is funny). When I went and got our lunch I got the girls kids meals at one of the stands. It included a drink, but all they had were fountain soft drinks. I got them a Sierra Mist (no caffeine) and could not wait to see what they thought. Ava loved it and drank every last sip of it and Claire drank one sip and hated it. That is VERY typical of my girls...one likes it and one does not! They have already asked when we can go back and watch another game. We are just so glad they enjoyed it because Jay and I love going and can now make it a family tradition. The weather also cooperated, it was just a little cool and overcast, but never rained! It was a great way to start our week!
