date night with Ava

Tonight we had the great blessing of taking one of our girls out on a date! While Claire played with her best friend Emmy, Jay and I took Ava to dinner and icecream. It was such an interesting night of emotions. As we left the house this afternoon I honestly have never seen Claire more excited. She knew that this was going to be her time and her time only to play with her buddy. I teared up at how much this special time meant to her. Ava was tearing up too because 1.she did not want to leave Claire and 2.she wanted to stay and play with Emmy. She did pretty well though and I made a huge deal all night that it was just her and mommy and daddy. She did say to me while hugging me "I never get to be with you by myself'". It melted my heart for sure! Ava is usally the life of the party and always outgoing and happy, but without Claire she was so different! She almost seemed a little bit down. I asked her a couple of times what was wrong and she said "I miss Claire". We have separated them like this less than 10 times ever and tonight I really saw the bond they have from being twins. When we went back to pick up Claire, she ran to the door and hugged Ava...it was really sweet! So hopefully soon we will have the opportunity of taking just Claire out on her mommy and daddy date! I can't wait!
